My birthday present!

Yesterday was my birthday (yay me!  I share a birthday with Superjoy!! If you haven't visited her blog, I would RUN there...LOL  She is fab!) and my hubby got me something I've been wanting for a while now!

Meet Baxter:

Isn't he just so sweet???  He's a Yorkie, 8 weeks old, and sweet as can be.  We are completely smitten with him!  Thank you so much, Jeff!

Corsage and hair thingy

Tonight was the annual Daddy/Daughter Dinner/Dance.  My little girl looks forward to this EVERY year, and this year, it landed on my birthday....sad for me, huh?  Not really.  =)  I didn't mind at all.  My two boys and I rented a movie and played with my birthday present (a new puppy!! SO CUTE!)

But anyway, I made a couple things for my daughter for her outfit.  A wrist corsage, and a hair thingy....

Don't you just LOVE my technical terms??  LOL  I didn't want to call it a hair "bow" because it's really not a bow....but it's a hair SOMETHING...LOL  I made this to coordinate my my daughter's adorable polka dotted dress.  I got the tutorial from Flexible Dreams, a site I just discovered and L-O-V-E!  Here is how mine turned out...I might have to get a couple more pictures, because this is the ONLY one I got....

I like it, but don't LOVE it...I think I need some practice, which my daughter won't mind, because she adores all things girly.

Daddy always forgets to get her a corsage, and I end up running around trying to get one at the last minute.  NOT THIS YEAR! I googled and came up with Lilly Cakes Felt Valentine Wrist Corsage.  PERRRRRFECT!

Yeah, no. I only WISH mine looked like hers.  I wanted mine all big and bold like the fab lady at Lilly Cakes.......but mine didn't turn out that way. So I tried to add an extra layer around the rose to compensate. FAIL.  To make matters worse, I had to go and add garrish GLITTER to it because I knew my little Jo would love it.  And it turned from kinda cute into hideous.  But oh well.  She was so pleased with it...and you can see how well it goes with her dress!

So it was a hit with her, and Jeff (my darling hubbs) says she was quite proud of it, and THAT is what counts.

My sister's clock

My sister had asked me, oh, probably a year back, if I could cut some large numbers for a clock, from vinyl...I said yes, and then life got in the way and we didn't get back to it.

Until a few weeks ago!  The first picture is just to give you an idea of how large the numbers are!
Yep, my big foot in there!  I wear a size 11 shoe!

The second is of the finished product.

The finished size is over 36" in diameter, and the bottom sits about 5 1/2 feet from the landing.

I cut this from Oracal vinyl, and the font is Wedding Bliss ES.

I have to give credit where credit is due: my sis picked out the font and design of the hash marks ~ I just did the cutting.  Well, and helped put it up, but that's another story (I accidentally almost pulled the ladder out from under her, and I fell off the bottom 3 steps of the ladder because I thought I was at the bottom step...LOL).

Isn't it gorgeous? AND one of a kind!

Oh, I have to share this photo...We put the vinyl up before her clock mechanism arrived....she suggested we put up vinyl "hands."  So we did.  LOL  I asked her what her favorite time of day was, so that's what we went with!  LOL (It's supposed to be PM, after all the kids are in bed! LOL)  This cracked us up for days, the fake hands...

Ok yes, we're dorks.  At least I am.

Added the file to Sandy's Space Box!

In case anyone is interested, I have posted the cut file that I created from Sandy's Space Flip Top Box.  The box is her idea and design, I simply made it into a file to use with MTC or SCAL!

Here is the MTC file, and the SVG can be found here.

Leave me a comment if you grab the files, and which you grabbed.....please let me know if you have any problems with the files.

Sandy's Space CUTE box!

I LOVE CraftGossip.  Just the collection of ideas there is staggering.  I get the digest in my email each day, and each morning, I look forward to what it has to offer!

Yesterday, it had this C-U-T-E as can be flip top box from Sandy's Space.  I mean, how cute can you get?

Source: Sandy's Space

I saw the box and IMMEDIATELY thought:  MTC! SO, I spent the morning, and YES it took me most of the morning, I am new to converting files, making this file into an SVG and MTC file to cut on your cutter!

MTC works with a variety of cutters: all Cricut machines (excluding the Imagine), Gazzelle, Craft ROBO, Silhouette, BlackCat Cougar, eCraft.....you can cut anything you can imagine with MTC! It's an amazing program that has really cracked open the abilities of your machine!

Go to Sandy's Space and check out her amazing site and creations!

Hand Made Valentines!

Every year, I raid the after-holiday sales and score boxes of Valentine's for 10 cents or less.  And EVERY YEAR, I forget where I put them, and have to buy new ones at full price.

NOT this year! I pulled out my new (well, less than a year now, I got it for my birthday last year, Feb 19th) Cricut, and got to work!

First up, my 3rd grader (boy)
My son's valentines
The idea came from here, Zakka Life, but with my twist! I converted it to a MTC file so I could mass produce them ~ they turned out so cute, and unique!  My son got to pick the colors and he loved them so much, he made sure to write himself one...LOL

Now my daughter:  She would have been happy with pretty much anything, but I had in my head this idea I couldn't get out....

Do you all remember WeePuls? I used to LOVE those things!  They would "give" them away for "earning" so much for magazine sales in school or whatever?  Well, I couldn't get them off my mind, and I got to thinking, they should be easy to create ~ they were SO SIMPLE, but I'm going to be brutally honest here:  I'm an idiot!  LOL

Okay, so we live in a SMALL town, about 8,000 people. We have NO CRAFT stores around....nearest one is 60 miles away, and with kids in sports, ballet and other activities, I can't just pick up and go, so I don't get there much. We have Wal-Mart, and it's tiny craft section or the internet. Now, I could have ordered some pom poms off the internet and made them SO MUCH CHEAPER but by the time I thought of this, it was too late to order.  So Wal-Mart it was.  But they had NO 2" or larger pom poms, except in the "variety pack." Those packs had 4 large ones, and the rest were small. So what did I do?  Bought 6 packs of the variety pack for those large ones....spending $18 on pom poms!  FAINT!  It was SO unlike me; I'm usually SO frugal, only buying on sale AND with coupons...but I had made up my mind...LOL Anyway, here are our final creations!

I even added the ribbon stamped with "Happy Valentine's Day," just like the original WeePuls!

Oh, and get this, I ended up having to go to the craft store 60 miles away anway, the day Saturday before Valentine's, and I checked at Joanne's and guess what they had?  Giant pom poms, in a variety pack, of course, but with at least 10 per pack, for only 3.99 a pack.  Oy.

Lunch bag/treat sack I created ~~ and some cute tags!

I posted this cute little treat bag on the MTC forum, but also wanted to share it here!  Nelda, from MTC and Me, did this awesome post and showcased the little bags...
source: Nelda, MTC and Me
My original design was the taller one on the left, and she graciously modified it to the cute little one on the right that I actually used for my daughter's class treats just this week!

Oh, and these darling little tags?  I got them from Bella Grey Designs, and they just fit SO perfectly with my little colorful bags!!  I think they are still giving them away as a freebie if you email them~~

Forgive me for the many pictures, I was just so tickled with the way they came out, and I'm so proud that they are MY design!  If you would like the file, just post here and I can post it for anyone who wants! =)

Thanks for looking, and visiting just jayma!

So here I go!

Yay to me for my first post here on Just Jayma!

I've been thinking for a LONG time about starting a blog, if for nothing else than to just post my projects in a central location.  I, by no means, imagine that I'll be a popular blog, but this will be a place for me to catalog my creative growth.  So, there is my first post!

Welcome to just jayma!
